Hello,
I am the founder and sole owner of an established hospitality venue in Leicester.
Ahead of our upcoming premises lease renewal this December, I am beginning the process of transitioning the business into a Worker Co-operative using the Co-operatives UK “Company Limited by Shares” model articles.
I am planning a phased exit from full-time daily operations to train as a psychotherapist. My intention is to stay onboard part-time to handle financial administration and mentor our excellent General Manager and core team. The buyout will be structured via a vendor loan note alongside unsecured co-operative lending.
As we map out our next steps, we are keen to explore different ways to structure our membership and voting eligibility. We want to find a model that empowers our permanent leadership team, while keeping daily operations running smoothly.
It would be invaluable to get some peer perspective on how other hospitality co-ops design their member eligibility criteria and other areas such as probation periods. Id like to explore how your network can support us through this journey

Their easiest route to get some support would be to apply to [Convert to a co-op | Co-operatives UK](https://www.uk.coop/start-new-co-op/convert) . They would either be paired randomly with an advisor or they could specify one they thought was a good fit. I’d be happy to chat to them about how Principle Six could support them, but might be more within Co-op Futures’ patch.
