The Autumn Assembly is taking place in Leeds on Thursday 19th and Friday 20th November, at The Holbeck, one of Leeds oldest social clubs!
An ask: This event is for and by worker co-ops and members of the federation - while everyone is welcomed, cooperators need to propose and run sessions to make this event meaningful. The paid workers have booked logistics and will be there to help out on the day, so this is a call out to members to take ownership of the opportunity to network and organise what you’d like to see!
The Autumn Assembly
We are pleased to be connecting with Stir to Action’s 21st Century Social Club, an essential, long term initiative to revitalise member-owned social spaces for a new generation.
Preserving and growing community spaces which are democratically run by the people who use them is essential to worker cooperation. These spaces bring us together, foster the skills we need to participate effectively in direct democracy in our working lives and build our capacity to advocate for worker control.
This year the programme will be entirely member-led. So please leave a session submission below and we will schedule it in.
Accessibility The venue is fully accessible. There will be two main rooms with a third available in the bar area. The rooms that we will use will be on the ground floor. There is an accessible lift to the first floor where the film screening will be held. There will be snacks and there is a small kitchenette for workers/caterers to use and for any special allergy-safe food to be stored.
Bursaries There will be a small number of bursaries designed to cover the event ticket cost. The application form will be shared w/c 19 October and the deadline to apply will be early November when we will let people know outcomes.
The plan
Thursday 19 - starting at midday, people will run workshops and sessions proposed by members.
Thursday evening - attendees are invited to join the club’s Thursday evening pub quiz. There will separately be a film screening upstairs. We’ll book a table at a nearby restaurant for anyone looking to eat socially together.
Friday 20 - time in the morning for more sessions, followed by visits to local worker co-ops.
Teaser..
We’ll be ending early Friday afternoon with a trip to Leeds Community Sauna (spaces will be limited and tickets for this sold seperately - so make sure to grab yours as soon as they go live we will share them here!).
