BRISTOL WORKER CO-OP MEET UP - Sunday 19th October 2025

BRISTOL WORKER CO-OP MEET UP

SUNDAY 19TH OCTOBER AT CAFÉ KINO – 6 PM TIL 9 PM

First Bristol informal co-op meetup for workers co-ops, come along and meet fellow workers. Essential Trading will be hosting at local worker co-op Café Kino.

This is a chance to meet up and share ideas and talk about worker co-ops, with an aim to create a local community to help support each other when needed.

This initial meet up will be followed by a screening of

‘SHIFT CHANGE: Putting Democracy to Work (USA, 2013, 69mins run time)‘

This event is open to all worker co-op members within Bristol and the surrounding areas (south west & south wales more than welcome).

Café Kino has limited capacity, so please email secretary@essential-trading.coop to book a place.

The meet up will be in the main café area that is all on one level, with an accessible toilet. The film will be shown in the basement, which is accessed via a flight of stairs, but with no accessible toilet downstairs. This will be a sit down event.

We’re keen to make this a regular event if this one goes well, so come along.

Thanks for organising this @Nerida84 I’ve passed it on to the staff at The Bristol Bike Project.

This looks really great, wish I could be there! Keen to watch the film at some point.

Thank you, if people are interested in attending, please RSVP to the email listed.

I’ve yet to have any RSVP’s for this event, looks like I’m going to unfortunately have to cancel it.

Ah that’s a shame! Do you know why there were no RSVPs? Hopefully it can be re-scheduled to a future date after a bit of word of mouth!

Hello! I’m in Bristol and new to this forum because I’m involved with three different projects currently transitioning to cooperative structures. Gutted to have missed this meet up and I would have loved to join! Happy to help organise and share about any future gatherings.

Hi Artemis Bear, welcome to the Forum. That’s exciting about the pojects transitioning to cooperative structures, hopefully hear more about them as they transition? We can help support you to organise a meetup in Bristol, might be worth dropping a line to Nerida who I know made a very good attempt at organising the previous one but not sure if it happened!

Thanks Sam! I think I might know Nerida already from events stuff in Bristol. I just realised there are actually four projects I’m involved with transitioning to cooperative governance. Super excited to connect with other co-operatives in Bristol. I’m also connected to the Bristol housing co-operatives network through my facilitation work and always pick the brains of Essential workers when we get deliveries. Very grateful for this forum.

Nice, keep us updated and let us know if there’s any questions that crop up through that process. We’ll be meeting in person at the next Worker Co-op Weekend on the first weekend in June, hopefully see you there
