Leicester worker co-op grocery in development - but they need more founding members!

SPRöUT is a new Leicester grocery store in the early stages of its development, focused on seasonal produce, responsible sourcing, low-waste choices and community-focused. All worker-owned, on a similar scale to us at Unicorn in Manchester, and we’re very excited about their vision.

Great news. Down on the south coast two vegan/organic retailer worker co-ops closed around 2022, alongside other non co-op small independents and we still feel the loss. Oh that’s sad to see about Daily Bread Northampton, I will see if we can put that in the next newsletter to try to ramp up support! I can also put this call out for Leicester support Debbie in the newsletter too!

I have forwarded the Leicester call out to a co-op friend who is from Leicester. No other east midlands co-ops come to mind at the minute.
