New Policy to share with members on submitting large or grant-attached proposals to workers.coop

Policy: Proposal Submission to workers.coop

Link to the Policy

You can find the Policy in Nextcloud>Member>Policies

Rationale

This policy exists to address challenges with how funding related proposals and other significant proposals have been submitted to workers.coop (defined below), and the challenges this has caused to those proposing and those receiving a proposal. This policy establishes clear processes for submitting a proposal, and outlines an expectation that a proposal covered by this policy should include financial provision to cover workers.coop core costs.

Who is this policy relevant to?

  • Working Groups

  • Members

  • Board

  • Paid workers

Underlying principles

Members are able to submit ideas for proposals to working groups to develop strategic projects in line with the business plan and strategy of workers.coop.

Strategic working groups should have the autonomy, and the skills, to make an informed decision on whether such a proposal should be supported and is realistic.

The amount of paid worker time, and resources within workers.coop is limited and paid workers have defined role and limited working hours; work needs to be agreed clearly in advance in line with capacity and funds.

What types of proposals does this policy cover?

Funding related proposals: Any grant applications, funding bids, donations with expectations of work, or other proposals attached to funding that are made for or on behalf of workers.coop, that list workers.coop as partners or involve members of workers.coop. It is assumed that such proposals will necessarily incur a time commitment from paid workers/board members and resources from workers.coop.

Other significant proposals: Any proposals for new projects or activities that are not already active, and/or that would necessitate time from paid workers, board members or other working group members, or use workers.coop digital infrastructure, mailing lists or other technology.
