Speaking opportunity for tech co-ops

Hi there,

As part of the https://re-organise.org/ project, which looks at how to increase understanding of alternative business models and worker co-operatives amongst university students we have an opportunity to present a guest lecture to computer science students at the University of Loughborough. The department there normally has a relationship with google and other corporates - so this would be a chance to essentially do some outreach. Most likely it wouldn’t be paid, but our thought that it is good to spread the word of co-ops now and then.

Most likely this first one would be before the christmas break and maybe 15 mins or so long. Please let me know if anyone has an interest!

I think the subjects that would be interesting are:

  • process of tech start ups
  • open data standards and data analysis
  • open source
  • ethics of the web + AI

Hey all, the date has been confirmed for this 11-11:30 this Friday 6th.

What we are looking for someone who is able to join the call and provide around 5-10 minutes about their tech co-op, how they got involved, and other advice for students looking for a career in more ethical tech. Me and Dan from re-organise can present the other slides so it’s a small commitment!

Hey @seanfarmelo , I could do this for Agile Collective if you still need someone.

That would be perfect, thanks so much for jumping in last minute Simon. If you could email me at S.Farmelo@lboro.ac.uk we can share the slides and details with you and make a little plan of action.
