Workers.coop Autumn Assembly 2025

Tickets are now on sale for the Workers.coop Autumn Assembly 2025 in Glasgow, 20th-22nd November. The Autumn Assembly brings together worker co-ops from across the UK to build on liberating work, celebrate what we’ve achieved and identify future opportunities.

This year’s Autumn Assembly takes place over three days in Glasgow, Scotland.

In 2022 we did something amazing: we created a federation that we own and that we alone are responsible for. Our Autumn Assembly is an opportunity for members and supporters to meet up, learn, share and take stock as we continue to create our collaborative, democratic systems within and beyond the worker co-op federation.

There are several events in the Autum Assembly and you can take part in all of them or just some - but you need to tell us which you are coming to:

Thursday 20 November

Half day event: Worker Cooperatives: challenging in-work poverty in care, cleaning and agency work

Venue: Glasgow Women’s Library - 23 Landressy St, Bridgeton, Glasgow G40 1BP

A half-day event open to people attending the Autumn Assembly, on worker co-ops in sectors of economic disadvantage such as cleaning, homecare, hospitality, agency work. We’ll hear from successful cooperatives in these sectors and discuss what would be needed to support the development of new worker co-operatives in these sectors here in Glasgow.

The event is open to individuals, co-operatives and other interested organisations, and is focused on those who work in care, cleaning, hospitality and agency sectors and are likely not already part of a worker co-op.

Autumn Assembly evening social - Film & Supper Club

Venue: Greencity Wholefoods - 23 Fleming St, Glasgow G31 1PQ

Thursday evening is a welcome social for anyone attending the Autumn Assembly with an early evening screening of Ken Loach’s film “Sorry we Missed You” at Greencity Wholefoods, Scotland’s oldest worker co-operative.

Arrive 5pm for 5.30pm screening.

A welcome supper is hosted by Greencity at 7.30pm, after the film screening. You can also just attend the supper and not the film screening if preferred.

Friday 21 November

Venue: Townhead Village Hall, 60 Mungo Ave, Glasgow G4 0PL

The Autumn Assembly brings together local, Scottish and UK-based worker co-ops and friends.

Come along to :

  • Meet other worker co-ops, expanding your cooperative & business network
  • Learn from the experiences of others from a wide range of UK worker co-ops
  • Discuss work & co-op challenges with other co-ops in a supportive environment
  • Deepen your understanding of your own and other worker co-ops
  • Find out what the federation is doing and how you can get involved
  • Work with other members to shape how the federation works
  • Share your thoughts on what support your co-op needs
  • Sign up for 1:1 coop advice from a cooperative business development adviser
  • Have a say on the future direction of workers.coop

The day’s event is followed by a veggie / vegan buffet and a big party. Ceilidh anyone? :tada:

Programme

The programme is co-designed by members and includes short presentations and talks with Q & As; workshops; peer learning; plenty of space for questions; an opportunity to book 1:1 business advice from a cooperative development adviser; and ample networking opportunities.

We’ll be publishing the full programme nearer the time.

Saturday 22 November

Join two Glasgow Worker Cooperatives for coffee and croissants near Glasgow’s iconic Barrowland, followed by a guided walk of Glasgow’s Cooperative History.

Length of walk: 2.2 miles
Time: approx 1.5 - 2 hours

There are two possible meeting points:

  • 10am for Coffee & Croissants with media co-op and Research for Action at 15 E Campbell St, Glasgow G1 5DT at 10am

OR

  • 11am at Bridgeton Station for the start of the walk with Dr Katie McCrossan from Glasgow University

Wear comfortable shoes and you may need waterproofs or an umbrella.

This is the end of the Autumn Assembly but there are other things you can go on to do after the walk. For example, visit Good Press on the way to the Barras, Glasgow’s famous flea market next to the iconic Barrowland music venue, drop in for lunch at Soul Sisters, or join the Glasgow Gaza vigil.

AUTUMN ASSEMBLY - HELLO FROM GLASGOW!
We’re looking forward to welcoming you to workers.coop’s Autumn Assembly, which runs from Thursday 20th to Saturday 22nd November. Come prepared not just to speak and listen but also to eat, drink, dance and walk in a city packed with a rich cooperative history, present and future. The full programme, registration link and accommodation tips are here.
On Thursday 20th, there’s a half day event from 10.30 - 3pm on worker coops as a way to combat low pay, insecurity and exploitation in care, cleaning and agency work. This is aimed particularly at women, refugees and migrant workers, people in low-waged work and sectors where there aren’t many co-ops. Those with experience and expertise in these are also very welcome. In the evening there is a film screening and then supper club at one of Glasgow’s legendary worker co-ops, Greencity Wholefoods.
Friday, 21st Nov is the main Autumn Assembly. This is your chance to get more involved in the Federation, hear from coop comrades and discuss current challenges and opportunities, learn new skills, debate new ideas and get one-to-one advice. We’ll round off with a ceilidh, so bring your dancing shoes
On Sunday 22nd there’s a chance to try out a new Glasgow cooperative history tour, starting in the East End. Optional coffee and pastries beforehand!
Here’s how ticketing works: Your ticket will cover all parts of the weekend but as numbers are limited for Thursday, you’ll need to sign up for the Thursday events in advance. You’ll be directed to do this when you register for your ticket

@Sion I have merged your thread into the existing, pinned, thread for this event, I hope that is OK!

Is there any method of coordinating travel already set up? We should have a car going from Brighton with spaces.
